QWO Cellulite Reduction New York City

Cellulite, or visible dimples in the skin, is incredibly common. In fact, data shows that 90% of women report having cellulite, and 50% say it bothers them “a great deal.” Cellulite is most common on the buttocks and thighs, and can affect the young and the old.

It’s no wonder why there are countless anti-cellulite products around. But all these products only try to hide the appearance of cellulite but don’t actually address the cause of cellulite…until Now. Introducing QWO Cellulite Reduction, the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment for severe to moderate cellulite.

QWO has been removed from the market and is no longer available. Our office now offers an alternative treatment option that offers advantages to previous treatments. Click here to learn about Aveli Cellulite Treatment!

About QWO Cellulite Reduction

The most amazingly troublesome thing about cellulite, is that diet and exercise has minimal improvement in its appearance. This is because cellulite is not fat. The dimples are the result of a complex combination of 3 factors:

  1. fibrous bands under the skin that thicken and put tension on the skin, making dimples
  2. enlarged fat cells that push on the skin
  3. thinning of the skin

Some treatments have been directed towards the skin and towards the fat. But, the primary contributing factor is the thick fibrous bands. Without eliminating or softening these bands, the cellulite dimples will remain. That is where QWO comes in.

QWO for cellulite

QWO is an injectable made up of collagenases which specifically target the thick fibrous bands. QWO is injected directly into the cellulite dimples. The enzymes weaken the band, allowing for redistribution of the protruding fat cells, and softening of the cellulite dimples. This is the first and only FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe cellulite.

The mechanism of action is Enzymatic Subcision and Remodeling, or ESR. This is a process where the enzymes of QWO soften and disrupt the thick collagen bands that cause visible dimpling. This is the Enzymatic Subcision. Additionally, the enzymes stimulate the formation of new collagen which helps to thicken and smooth the skin. This is the Remodeling part.

Candidates for QWO Cellulite Reduction

QWO is FDA-approved for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite on the buttocks. So anyone with visible cellulite dimples is a candidate. Remember though, this treats cellulite, which is a very specific cause of dimples. If you have loose skin, it can cause dimples that may be confused with cellulite.

How can you tell the difference between cellulite and loose skin? If you gently pull up on the skin and the dimples go away, then it is likely the result of loose skin and not true cellulite. If the dimples remain, then it is probably cellulite.

Dr. Schulman will examine you during a consultation to determine if you have true cellulite and are a good candidate for QWO cellulite treatments.

Real Patient Testimonial

QWO Cellulite Reduction

Real Patient Testimonial

I must have spent thousands of dollars on creams and laser treatments in my life, but I still couldn’t fix my cottage cheese butt.  I had heard about this new treatment a few years ago while they were still testing it and made sure I tried it when it finally came out. I have had 2 sessions so I am not done yet, but I already see good results. I am so glad for this.

Questions and answers QWO Cellulite Treatment

Most people require 3 treatments with 3 weeks in between treatments.

QWO can be used on up to 24 cellulite dimples at a time.

The injections are given with a small needle, but it is almost painless. Afterwards there can be mild soreness.

Each treatment can take as little as 10 minutes.

Yes. Bruising is the most common side effect after QWO treatments. This is because the enzyme can cause tiny blood vessels to “leak”. The bruising can last a few weeks and tends to get less severe with each subsequent treatment session.

The cost will vary between providers and geographic region, but you should expect to pay somewhere between $900 and $1500 per treatment.

No, once treated, your cellulite will not come back. But, you may develop new cellulite, or the other areas that were not treated may worsen as you age.

No. Cellulite is mostly due to the thick fibrous bands that cause dimples in the skin, and it is not related to how much fat you have. This is why even skinny people have cellulite.

Cellfina is an invasive treatment that mechanically cuts the fibrous bands using a sharp blade under the skin. While effective, this is more invasive. QWO weakens the same bands using enzymes. The advantage of QWO is less recovery and less potential side effects. QWO treatments also take minutes, while Cellfina treatments can take hours.

Absolutely. QWO is a great way to reduce the appearance of dimples that have persisted after your BBL or liposuction procedure.
